September 13: Inaugural WaterCan Awards Ceremony
In celebration of 20 years of bringing clean water to developing countries, WaterCan publicly recognized and thanked those who have made vital contributions to the field of clean water and sanitation as well as to our organization and its current efforts in eastern Africa. Award recipients included Margaret Catley-Carlson, Officer of the Order of Canada and current Chair of the Global Water Partnership, Christina Lubbock, widow of the late founder of WaterCan, and WaterCan@McGill and WaterCan@Queen's university chapter co-chairs.
The programme concluded with a performance by Ottawa-based Akpokli Drum and Dance Society and a cocktail reception.
