WaterCan
Hosts Its Ninth Annual Embassy Dinner
On Friday, May 2,
WaterCan held its Ninth Annual Embassy Dinner in Ottawa’s fabulous
Aberdeen Pavilion. As usual, the event fulfilled its promise of a sparkling
evening of international gourmet food and drink. Embassies
and High Commissions representing 46 countries participated in this
important fundraiser for WaterCan, and tantalized the taste buds of
over 400 guests. Joining the diplomatic community in making the evening
special were Canadian companies Hernder Estate Wines, Iroquois Water,
Ace Bakery and Timothy’s World Coffee.
A Silent Auction featuring over 150
items kept the crowd busy throughout the evening. WaterCan was fortunate to
have obtained the support of many corporate, diplomatic and private donors,
which resulted in a fantastic array of items put up for competitive bidding.
Co-auctioneers Dave Smith and Christina Lubbock presented a Live
Auction during the evening. This featured such rich offerings as dinners
for as many as 16 people and up in the residences of several ambassadors, various
haute couture ensembles, travel packages, and a 4-year lease for an Audi sedan.
“Go Travel Direct” and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic co-sponsored the
raffle prize of an all-inclusive 1-week trip for 2 people to the 4-star Sosua
Bay Hotel in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. What a prize!
WaterCan thanks all the participants, donors, sponsors, and volunteers who
came together to make this a fantastic event. Now, on to the 10th Annual Embassy
Dinner! Hope to see you all there in 2004!
